After all the features are selected and taken care of, the SQL Server 2008 Instance Configuration window pops up. This one is very important. In this window the Instance Root Directory can be changed:
In preparation for this installation, I created a local user account. After filling in the Account (SERVER_Name\sqluser) and password, I did an 'apply to all' to auto fill all of the services. Make sure all services are set to Automatic:
Then I accepted Windows authentication mode for account provisioning. It is necessary to add an administrator (of the databases) account. I added the current Windows Server 2008 administrator account, but another account could certainly be designated.
